« Holy Smokes » is a work about the place of religion, cultural history and modern self obsession.
The title refers to the Notre Dame fire of 2019, the smoke of the disappearance of historic treasures in the blaze, the incense burnt during catholic celebrations; as well as our stupefaction in front of the changes Western civilisation is undergoing, and the fading of the cultural teddybear that has been religion for centuries, leaving us face to face with ourselves.
The works are based on a new technique, called Sublimation, of photographic gelatine, on glass. Ongoing.
